Kathryn Wildgen, a native of New Orleans and retired professor of French, has always enjoyed the Southern Gothic thriller, her chosen genre. She splits her time between Covington, Louisiana and Flagstaff, Arizona and has close ties to all the places of fractal, her first novel. The "medieval component" takes place in France where Kathryn lived for a year and to which she has made many trips, including Autun, the locus of the "medieval" action. She visits Sedona and Jerome (Arizona) often. And some of her most precious memories are of brief vacations at Bay St. Louis. She was really there in the Star Theater when the railroad bridge burned down. However while the places are real, the novel is pure fiction.
